First—I’m incredibly humbled by this nomination. I don’t know who nominated me or why or what category I’m in, but I thank you, whoever you are. I’m humbled that you felt I deserved recognition.

I’ll be honest. These things make me really uncomfortable. I actually wrote to Rhode Island Monthly to verify that this was real and not a scam because, when I opened the envelope, I didn’t believe it was real. Winning awards has never been on my radar. I just put my head down and do the work. I work hard to plan and prep for my students and my community every day. It’s always the goal to see others shine, to see them rise up, confident, as artists, observers, and empathetic active participants in our visual world.

I’m just here to guide, to encourage, to educate about the art world, and help people believe in themselves.

I’m incredibly honored that someone or many people believed in me. And for that, I thank you. 🙏

🐝🐝🐝 Grades K-2 explored the world of Bees! We talked about their importance to our ecosystem (there would be no food without bees!) and explored different ways to create the appearance of honeycomb through printing with stamps, bubble wrap, and netting. Students created observation drawings of honeybees and added these to their honeycombs. When all the honeycombs were placed on the display wall, we discussed how, together, they formed a hive!

Adult Workshop-Retro Monster Prints! We had so much fun transferring images on the gel blocks!

Beautiful bird roundup from grades 3-5! We examined backyard birds of New England reference sheets, watched the and examined the whimsical work of long-time bird illustrator This lead us to displaying our bird illustrations on fun hanging branches (an interesting creative problem students needed to solve—how to get two sticks to balance like a swing)
