It is with profound sadness that we share news of the passing of King B. “Doc” Odell, Jr. Doc was a teacher, advisor, mentor, coach, colleague, friend, and confidant to thousands of students, faculty, staff, and parents alike. Doc’s influence on and contributions to MB are immeasurable, and while his loss will be deeply felt by the entire community, his long and influential tenure has left a lasting legacy. The family will be holding a private service and burial. Information on MB’s services to honor Doc’s life and legacy is forthcoming. Please join us in holding Doc and his family in the Light of our care, support, and gratitude.

The MB Boys Lacrosse team is very excited to announce the 8th season of Grounders for the Game, an initiative aimed at giving back to our beloved game of lacrosse by throwing an assist to lacrosse organizations in need.
How does Grounders for the Game work?
Each team member and coach will seek sponsors willing to pledge a monetary commitment for every ground ball (GB) that our varsity team picks up throughout the course of the 2022 season (and we hope there will be a lot!) Over the course of a game, the team usually scoops up about 25 ground balls. Over the course of a 16-game season, that comes out to 400 ground balls.
What does a pledge look like?
Pledge a nickel per GB? That's a $20 donation toward a great cause. Pledge a dime? That gives $40 to a lacrosse team in need. Even better? The Bill Belichick Foundation has generously agreed to make a dollar-for-dollar match on whatever money the team raises through Grounders for the Game!
Where is the final donation going?
To Harlem Lacrosse! Check out “A Day in the Life of Harlem Lacrosse” on YouTube!
We are extremely grateful to be partnering with Harlem Lacrosse for our fundraiser in 2022. Harlem Lacrosse CEO Mike Levin is a friend to our program and a former standout goalie for Brown University Lacrosse. We love the work that Harlem Lacrosse is doing and the players on our MB team want to collaborate and support their efforts.

This weeks’ WHY MB, comes from phenomenal Noah Hemingway, ‘23!
“I have been at MB for the past three years. Moses Brown originally drew me in because it was a small school with great academics, but since I have gotten here, I've learned there is so much more to the school. Since sophomore year, I have participated in soccer where I am proudly now bench captain. I have also been a part of the sailing team since freshman year, and I am now co-captain of the team with Talia. I also took part in the Ethics Bowl during the winter. My favorite part of MB is the community. I know a majority of the students and have a personal relationship with all my teachers. My time here has really taught me how to balance my time and take advantage of the incredible opportunities given to me.”
