Ego is not a false self. There is no false self. There are merely fragmented views of a whole and holy self.
Yes, you are an ego, but you are not ONLY an ego. Yes, you are a whirling tide pool of emotional wounding, and rusted armor; but you are not ONLY that.
You are a raging sea of desire and fear and you are also the quiet waters that reflect the endless sky. You are the depths of eternity and the rock at the foundation of the world. Above all, you are an eternal and unbreakable soul.
If you see yourself- truly see yourself- in the immutable grandeur of all that is- then ego is no less beautiful and divine than the sun at the edge of the sea.

If you find yourself lacking in love, be loving towards your lack of love. If are having trouble being compassionate towards yourself, then be compassionate toward your lack of compassion. If you find yourself lacking in kindness, be kind towards your lack of kindness. And if you find yourself being impatient, practice patience with your impatience. Engage lovingly with yourself wherever you are and goodness will unfold naturally.
