✨ September’s International Student Spotlight Is Here! ✨

We are back with the international student spotlight series where every month we shine a light on a student who is making an impact and leaving their personal pawprint at Johnson & Wales University. For this month, we are spotlighting our ESL, soon to be MBA student, Hyungshin “Hugh” Kim! 🎉🎊

💬 When we asked him to give us some advice for our international students, this is what he had to say:

As an international student and someone who has studied American studies, I also believe that understanding and respecting other people's cultures is the starting point for having your own culture respected. At the same time, I have found that this mindset helps me stay positive. It turns what could feel like stress into new experiences, and those experiences often become valuable lessons. This way of thinking not only deepens connections with others at JWU but also prepares you to thrive in a global environment in the future!”

ELCA and staff were honored to participate in the Papua Sudent Career Development Workshop in collaboration with Papua Scholar Success Program, Indonesia Education Partnerships (IEP), and the University of Rhode Island. Reuniting with students who advanced from our academic ESL courses to degree programs - many now onto Master's and internships - was unforgettable! We were incredibly honored to hear from guest presenters, including the Honorable Sade Bimantara, acting Indonesian Ambassador to the U.S., esteemed representatives of the Papua provincial governments, Ari Sufiati from Apple, Inc., Leroy Hollenbeck from Freeport Foundation Mentors Program, Nancy Stricklin from URI, Brook Ross of IEP, and our own amazing JWU Ex Ed & Career Services team!
