This week, we celebrate National School Bus Safety Week! Millions of students ride buses every day, and it’s important for drivers, parents, and students to know the rules to keep everyone safe.

🔸 Know the Rules: Review school bus safety rules with your children. Remind them to wait at least ten feet away from the bus and only board once it has come to a complete stop.

🔸 Understand School Bus Lights:
• Yellow flashing lights mean the bus is preparing to stop—slow down and be ready to stop.
• Red flashing lights and an extended stop arm mean children are getting on or off the bus—you must stop and wait until the lights stop flashing and the stop arm is withdrawn.

🔸 Illegal School Bus Passing: It’s illegal in every state to pass a school bus when the stop arm is extended and red lights are flashing.
• Bus Stop Safety: Best Practices:
🕒 Arrive at the bus stop at least five minutes early, and wait at least ten feet from the curb.
🚸 Wait for the bus to stop completely and for the driver’s signal before boarding or disembarking.
🚫 Never walk behind a school bus. When crossing in front, walk ten feet ahead and make eye contact with the driver first.

Let’s all do our part to keep students safe on their way to and from school! 🚌✨
