🏆🥈 AMAZING SEASON OPENER FOR THE REBELS — MONDAY 8/24! 🥈🏆

Our Mid-Carolina swimmers SHOWED UP at our Season Opener Swim Meet on Monday, August 24! After having to reschedule from August 20, our Rebels came ready to race — and what an incredible meet it was! 💦💪

🏆 MID-CAROLINA BOYS — 🥈2ND PLACE OVERALL- 🥇1ST OVERALL AMONG OUR REGION & 1–3A DIVISION SCHOOLS

🏆 MID-CAROLINA GIRLS —🥈2ND PLACE OVERALL-🥇1ST OVERALL AMONG OUR REGION & 1–3A DIVISION SCHOOLS

We competed against 7 other teams, including schools from larger classifications, and BOTH our boys and girls finished 🥈2ND PLACE OVERALL! 🙌

👏 What an incredible way to start our regular season! Our swimmers raced hard, supported one another, and represented Mid-Carolina so well against some very strong competition from larger schools and continued to drop time and make multiple state qualifications!!! 👏

We are SO proud of our Rebel swimmers and excited to see what this team continues to accomplish this season! ❤️💪💦

🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️🥇🎉INCREDIBLE KICKOFF TO THE SEASON FOR THE MC SWIM TEAM AT THEIR MEET AT USC GRAY’S INVITE — SATURDAY 8/22!🥇❤️

Our Mid-Carolina swimmers had an incredible day at the USC Gray Collegiate Invitational this past Saturday, August 22! They had the opportunity to compete against schools from all classifications, including many very strong 5A divisions , and our swimmers absolutely showed up and winning some 1st place overall swims!!!! 🥇👏

🥇🏆🥇Grant Smith, took 1ST PLACE OVERALL in BOTH the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Yard Breaststroke 🙌💪💦
🏆Our Boys finished 8th overall
🏆Our Girls finished 7th overall
🏆Both our Boys AND Girls 200 Freestyle Relays finished TOP 5 overall!
💪 Nearly everyone dropped significant times from last year!!!
🎉Many earned State Automatic and State Consideration times at the first meet of the season!

We are incredibly proud of our Rebel Swimmers already this season and how they compete, improve, and represent Mid-Carolina! It was exciting to see so many big time drops and state-qualifying performances and great first time swimming milestones against such impressive competition. 🎉📣🏅

🎓 SENIOR CLASS MEETING

Rhodes Graduation Services (Jostens) will hold a Senior Class Meeting on Monday, August 31, at 9:00 a.m.

During the meeting, seniors will receive important information about ordering their graduation supplies. Seniors will be able to place their orders online through Rhodes Graduation Services.

📅 Graduation Supply Order Deadline: Thursday, September 10

Rhodes Graduation Services will return to Mid-Carolina High School on Thursday, September 24, from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. to deliver early celebration items.

❤️🖤 Shoutout to Carson Conder! 🖤❤️

We are proud to recognize Carson, who represented MCHS this past summer at RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) Camp! 🌟

Carson was recognized at the Rotary meeting held this past Friday, where he shared about his RYLA experience and how the opportunity impacted and strengthened his leadership skills. His willingness to share his experience is a wonderful example of the growth that comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone and embracing new opportunities.

We are proud of Carson’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. He continues to represent MCHS with pride both in and out of the classroom! ❤️🖤

The Rotary Club of Newberry had the privilege of hearing from four future leaders in our community during today's meeting.

Brielle Whitmire (Whitmire High School), Carson Conder (Mid-Carolina High School), Ashley Hernandez-Vega (Newberry High School) and Hannah Beevers (Newberry Academy) were sponsored by our club to attend Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).

The purpose of RYLA is to connect with leaders to help build communication and problem-solving skills, discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in the community, learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors, unlock their potential to turn motivation into action, and have fun and form lasting friendships.

Our 2026 RYLA students spoke to us about their experience and about how they will take the skills they learned to become leaders in not only their schools, but also their community.
