❤️🖤 Growing Together. Moving Forward!

We are proud to celebrate Mid-Carolina Middle School's GOOD rating (54/100) on the 2026 South Carolina School Report Card, an increase of 6 points from last year! 🎉

📈 Our growth highlights:

Math Achievement: +5.7 percentage points

Students Meeting Growth Targets (MAT): +6.7 percentage points

Students Meeting Growth Targets (AVT): +6.5 percentage points

Why does growth matter? Achievement tells us how students are performing, while growth tells us how much progress they are making. Every student's progress matters!

These results reflect the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the continued support of our families and community.

We also want to recognize last year's eighth graders, now high school freshmen, who contributed to this success! And a special thank-you to all the educators who have taught, supported, and encouraged these students along the way, including those who are no longer at MCMS. This progress represents the collective efforts of many people over time!

But we're not finished growing! We know there is still room for improvement, and we are excited about the potential of the students in our classrooms today.

Our goal isn't simply higher test scores. It's ensuring that every Rebel is learning, growing, and making meaningful progress every single day.

We are proud of how far we've come, but even more excited about where we're going!

🎨❤️🖤 Celebrating Our Talented MCMS Artists! 🖤❤️🎨

We are excited to share that several of our talented Rebels will have their artwork on display at the 2026 South Carolina State Fair! 🎡🎨

🌟 Maci King – Artwork selected for display at the SC State Fair!

🥈 Kaylin Lewis – Earned 2nd Place in 3D Art for her incredible dragon sculpture!

We also want to give a special shout-out to Estrella Espinosa Vasquez and Maddie Templin, whose “Shrek Yourself” portraits from last school year were also selected for display! 💚

What an incredible accomplishment for these young artists! We are proud of their creativity, hard work, and willingness to express themselves through art.

A special thank-you to Mrs. Nix for inspiring our students, encouraging their creativity, and helping them discover and develop their artistic talents. The opportunities she provides allow our Rebels to shine both inside and outside the classroom!

Our MCMS Beta Club students collected items, assembled baskets, and delivered them to local first responders as a service project to show appreciation for their dedication to our community.

We’re proud of our Rebels for putting kindness and leadership into action through service. Thank you to our first responders for all you do to keep our community safe! 🚒🚓🚑 🩺

🎨🎶 Learning in Action: What Does Music Look Like?

Our seventh-grade artists combined self-portraits with Kandinsky-inspired abstract backgrounds, turning music into lines, shapes, and colors!

While listening to “Waiting on the World to Change,” “Man in the Mirror,” or “One Day,” students drew what they imagined as they listened. Each finished piece brings together their individual identity and creative interpretation of music. ❤️🖤

We are proud to recognize Mrs. Jamie Thompson as our Teacher of the Month and Coach Jonathan Butler as our Support Staff Employee of the Month!

🍎 Mrs. Jamie Thompson – 6th Grade Math
Jamie’s colleagues describe her as a positive and caring educator who is dedicated to helping every student succeed. She has also stepped up as a leader and mentor—supporting a first-year teacher, helping lead her team, and always being willing to lend a hand. One colleague shared, “Jamie works so hard to support me and my journey as a first-year teacher!”

👏 Coach Jonathan Butler – Support Staff
Coach Butler’s colleagues consistently describe him as someone who steps up whenever and wherever he is needed. He is a true team player who genuinely cares about students and is always willing to fill in and help. His peers shared that he “truly cares about students,” “always steps up,” and “wants the best for his students.” One colleague summed it up perfectly: “The best of the best!”
Jamie and Coach Butler both demonstrate what it means to believe that Everything is Possible through the way they serve our students and support the people around them.

Today, we celebrate the coaches who give their time, energy, and heart to our MCMS student-athletes. ❤️ 🖤

The impact of a coach reaches far beyond wins and losses. Our coaches teach discipline, perseverance, teamwork, responsibility, and what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself.

Thank you to our Mid-Carolina Middle School coaches for believing in our students, holding them to high expectations, and helping them grow both on and off the field, court, course, and mat.
