Fun Fridays are the best! 🦁

Some updates:

Last week, our amazing Kindergarten students finished being introduced to letters and sounds. To celebrate, we had a ABC Parade. The students wore hats showing our favorite letter and walked the halls of the school while the other students cheered and celebrated with us. It was so fun! Students continue practicing letters and sounds by putting them together to make and read words! 🎉. It is definitely an exciting time.

Our Success Club kicked off their first official meeting! Selected students from grades 3-5 enjoyed a wonderful presentation from Chief Wesley Palmore and Officer De’ Quan Mitchell. Following the presentation, the sponsors and the students enjoyed some friendly basketball! Thank you Mr. McGlohorn and Mr. Coop for your leadership! We can’t wait until October’s meeting!

Happy Dolly Day at PRES! Some very special 5th graders rolled their way around school with a sweet treat for our amazing teachers and staff! These girls even pitched a tune of Dolly’s famous song 9 to 5! Thank you for all the love, hard work and heart you give our students each day from 9 to 5 and way beyond!! 💕🦁💕

Georgia-Pacific Contributes $16,000 to Newberry County Schools

NEWBERRY, S.C. — Georgia-Pacific’s Prosperity Plywood and Lumber facility has contributed $16,000 to eight schools in the School District of Newberry County, continuing the company’s support of students, educators and schools throughout the community.
Each of the following schools received a $2,000 contribution:

Little Mountain Elementary School
Mid-Carolina Middle School
Mid-Carolina High School
Newberry High School
Newberry Middle School
Prosperity-Rikard Elementary School
Pomaria-Garmany Elementary School
Whitmire Community School

The contributions provide each school with additional resources that can be directed toward programs, initiatives and needs that support students and enhance their educational experiences.

“We are incredibly grateful to Georgia-Pacific for continuing to invest in our schools and our students,” Superintendent Dr. Chan Anderson said. “Strong community partnerships play an important role in the success of our district. This generous contribution demonstrates Georgia-Pacific’s commitment to Newberry County and provides our schools with additional opportunities to support students in meaningful ways.”

Georgia-Pacific has an established presence in Newberry County through its Prosperity operations and has provided financial support to district schools in previous years.

“We appreciate Georgia-Pacific providing these funds directly to our schools and giving our school leaders the flexibility to use them where they can have the greatest impact,” Chief Financial Officer Daniel Haven said. “Community support like this helps schools enhance opportunities for students while complementing the resources provided by the district.”

Georgia-Pacific representatives said the contribution reflects the company’s commitment to the communities in which its employees live and work.

“We are excited to support the School District of Newberry County through these contributions, and we truly value the positive impact the schools have on our community,” Georgia-Pacific HR Business Partner Morgan Bundrick said.

The School District of Newberry County appreciates Georgia-Pacific’s continued partnership and its investment in the students and schools of Newberry County.

Mrs. West was recognized for being our Support Staff of the Year and the District Runner Up for Support Staff of the Year. We are so appreciative of Mrs. West and the countless ways she gives daily!

Ms. Chrissie Senn - Teacher of the Year
Ms. Senn’s determination and devotion for our students is evident from the countless smiles and hugs she receives every day. Her goal for students is to succeed through hard work and perseverance.

We are very honored to have both of these ladies as part of our PRES Family! Congratulations Mrs. West and Ms. Senn!

Join us tomorrow afternoon for Games with Grandparents and Grand Friends! Doors will open at 12:55 pm for the guests of students in Grades 3-5. The games will begin at 1:00 pm and end at 1:30 pm for students in grades 3-5 and guests. The doors will open for Grandparents and Grand Friends of students in Pre K-2 at 1:25 pm. Games will begin at 1:30 pm and end at 2:00 pm. The Scholastic Book Fair will be open from 1:00 pm -2:15 for guests to shop. Please contact us if you should have any questions! 🦁
