Have you ever walked through Target or a store & noticed someone’s head playing peek-a-boo šŸ‘» with their extensions staring right at you? Yesterday I was spooked & I thought it can happen to the best of us so I thought to myself: How can I help others learn from this? So this is it šŸŽƒ
Stylists; feel free to share this for a PSA if you have those naughty clients but also pay attention and make sure your extensions lay at a 0* elevation. Keep 1ā€ away from the perimeter & hairline and don’t install the extensions too high especially on finer hair guests. Most important make sure you’re matching density for density. Even too much hair at the application point can cause bubbling.
Ladies… We Love you!!! But Don’t wait til the last minute to come in for maintenance. It’s not healthy for your natural hair šŸ‘».

ā˜•ļøI hope this helps

I’ve heard a few stylists say they struggle with getting different extension colors to blend. Rule of thumb is to always stay within 2 to 3 LEVELS of your clients natural hair color to create the most seamless blend.
However if you are wanting to add a high contrast or more dimension, you can definitely do that with your placement as well as following the same rule of thumb by staying within 2 to 3 levels of the lightest color used on your previous rows.

I found that using a strand by strand method, gives me the most versatility & freedom when creating different looks no matter how many colors and I’m utilizing. As you can see looking at my illustration, when using itips and KTips with a level 5 hair color and a level 7 hair color, there are different patterns that you can use to introduce that lightest level 7 color. By creating the introduction by utilizing both the level 5 & 7 together whether I’m alternating my strand by strand application or if I’m stacking tapes or wefts together, it will create a smooth transition to my top row, which is going to be my lightest color. You can see looking at my illustration my lightest color is a level 7 shade.

As always, I hope this illustration & visual helps by showing you how to utilize not a specific color, but by using the āœļølevel system to help create a smooth transition and blend no matter what client you have sitting in your chair. I hope this information helps and if you ever have any questions, drop them Below! ā˜•ļøMichele

Who else does this with their installs??
I’m all about the scalp health & each time my client asks me ā€œShould I take a break?ā€ I let them in on my little secret to ensure their scalp & natural hair stays healthy.
But if my client wants to take a break & go diving in the Bahamas with those dolphins while sipping on mimosas, then yes girl. I’ll see you when you get back 🤭 & I’ll still make sure your new install is still placed a little higher or lower than the last.

I hope y’all are having a fun weekend šŸ· Michele

SHARE WITH A STYLIST! You just got a new install & ask…Do I need to remove my extensions? Can I HAVE extensions if I need frequent MRI’s? These questions gets asked more often than you realize.

The answer: Only if you have to remove METAL before your MRI which 99.999% of the time is the case.
K-tips have No metal, only Keratin resin:SAFE
Tape extensions attach with an adhesive: SAFE
ā˜•ļøWefts- It depends on the foundation used. If a stylist braids the natural hair and sews the weft onto the braided foundation and No beads or metal is attached to the natural hair to keep the foundation in place then that method of installation is SAFE to keep installed if you need an MRI.

If your Weft foundation is held together by the Most Common foundations used for wefts these days: any beads or beads with thread, the beads used are aluminum or copper which are both METAL. So this method is Not safe & should be removed or not installed.

I-Tips, including Nanos! All use a metal bead so these need to be removed or not installed if you need MRI’s.

šŸ¤šŸ¤TeeHee…Share & Tag a Stylist! Anytime my extension guests are getting a fresh new install and I am redoing the whole head of extensions, I like to slightly raise or lower the new installation attachment points to give the previous area a ā€œbreakā€ that us extension specialists most frequently hear. So when my guest asks if they need to take a ā€œbreakā€ my answer is I’ve been giving them this ā€œbreakā€ every time I redo their extensions tee-hee! They just didn’t know itšŸ˜‰

ā˜•ļøI hope everyone has a ā€œTee-Heeā€ day! šŸ¤-Michele

šŸ¤šŸ¤Double tap of this helps! Knowing how many rows to stack to provide the density needed for each guest, based on their natural hair density is important to ensuring a full coverage without a disconnection between their natural hair, as well as the extensions.
My previous post shows how many rows to install based on your guest natural hair density, so how many hand tied Wefts that should be stacked on each row in this illustration is recommended to ensure that coverage, no matter if you’re only adding density or both density and length.

For anyone that has really thin, fragile, extra fine hair density typically you will only need between 1 to 2 Wefts stacked per row to give them the thickness, and even length without the hair looking bottom heavy. For anyone that has find a medium hair density on average to three stacked wefts will provide that same coverage and for anyone who has thicker hair density it’s recommended to stack 4 wefts together, because it does provide the same thickness as a Volume weft. Stacking any more than four together will end up feeling bulky so it is not recommended.

šŸ¤šŸ¤Double tap if this helps! Depending on if someone only wants their hair thicker for density only or if they want it thicker and longer will depend on how many ROWS OF WEFTS you should install no matter which weft product you are installing.
The thicker your guests natural hair is, the more hair you will need to install which also means more rows will be needed to install.
ā˜•ļøGo ahead & save this or share this if you are a newer to the hair extension world and as always, don’t ever hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.

šŸ¤šŸ¤DOUBLE TAP TO LET ME KNOW THIS HELPS! How close you should be installing your wefts doesn’t need to be tricky. The finer someone’s natural hair density, the further away from the hairline you may need to be in order for the extensions to not play ā€œpeek-a-booā€. The thicker someone’s natural density, the closer to the hairline they can be installed.

ā˜•ļøIf your guest wears high hairstyles or pulled their hair back: Have them pull it back so you can see the areas of the scalp that have maximum density for you to place the extensions. If you’re unsure, use your pintail comb and while the hair is held back, take your pintail comb & place it where you want to install the extensions.
šŸ‘If you don’t see your pintail comb, you’re safe to install. 😱If you see it, place it higher or further away from the perimeter until you don’t see it, then install your wefts. 😬If your guest has finer density & no matter how high they wear their hair & you can see the scalp, recommend a LOWER pony or hairstyle so they can still wear their hair back & have the extensions without the attachment point showing.
šŸ¤I hope this helps, have a beautiful day-Michele

Spacing apart your wefts depends on the depth of your foundation, the guests natural hair density, parting, but also how much hair is being installed.

With all of these things combined this illustration shows you the AVERAGE spacing between each row for maximum concealment while adding the length or volume needed to achieve the end results for your guest.

As always, I hope this helps & Feel free to save this post or share it with your stylist.
