🎙️ This Friday on Bringing Education Home… 🎙️

This week, we’re joined by Lawrence C. Harris, a speaker who helps teens and young adults believe in themselves, think differently about their future, and make better choices. 💙

Lawrence’s message comes from personal experience. Growing up, he faced severe bullying and mental health challenges, and his own journey toward a better life eventually inspired him to begin speaking to young people.

Today, he shares the strategies and methods that helped him build self-worth, make positive changes, and create a life he can be proud of.

In this episode, we talk about the importance of helping young people see their own value, navigate difficult experiences, and believe that their circumstances today don’t have to define their future.

✨ Tune in this Friday on Bringing Education Home for an honest and encouraging conversation about self-worth, resilience, making better choices, and helping young people believe in themselves.

What if helping our teens plan for the future started with helping them discover who they are—not simply pushing them toward college? 💛

In this episode of Bringing Education Home, I sit down with Daniel Simons to talk about helping military-connected teens and other young people find purpose, build resilience, and create a pathway that actually fits who they are.

I loved Daniel’s simple approach: start with “Tell me about yourself,” ask what they would do if money were no object, and then help them explore those possibilities through real experiences, shadowing, and even a few Plan B options.

We also talk about helicopter parenting, college-by-default thinking, fear of failure, and why sometimes our kids need the space to stumble, learn, and get back up.

One of my biggest takeaways? Our job isn’t to map out our child’s entire future. It’s to stay curious, have the conversations, and help them learn how to navigate it for themselves.

🎙️ This Tuesday on Bringing Education Home… 🎙️

This week, we’re joined by Daniel Simon, an educator and leader with more than 30 years of experience across public, charter, and private education.

Daniel has served in roles including Principal, Director, and Superintendent, while also working as a higher education instructor in in-person, virtual, and correctional center environments. He’s also a certified coach, professional development facilitator, leadership mentor, and vocation, college, and career advisor.

But Daniel brings more than professional experience to the conversation. He and his wife of more than 30 years are proud parents of six college graduates, including two with advanced degrees and a West Point graduate. And now they’re enjoying being grandparents to eight grandchildren—with two more on the way! ❤️

In this episode, we talk about education, leadership, preparing young people for what comes next, and the importance of supporting children as they discover their own path.

✨ Tune in this Tuesday on Bringing Education Home for a conversation filled with decades of educational experience, family wisdom, and insights for parents and educators.

What if helping kids become better students starts with teaching them how to actually learn? 📚💡

In this episode of Bringing Education Home, I sit down with Dr. Stephen Jones, educator and Associate Dean at Villanova University, to unpack the practical skills that can make a real difference in a child’s educational journey.

We talk about reading for comprehension, asking better questions, hands-on learning, finding what works for each child, and building simple routines that can help with time management and procrastination.

One thing that really stood out to me was how much parents can influence learning—not by having all the answers, but by staying curious, involved, and modeling a willingness to learn.

What if the “perfect day” for a child doesn’t look as structured or productive as we think it should?

When an AI was asked to design an ideal day for healthy child development, the answer highlighted something many of us can easily overlook: children need time to play, connect, explore, and yes… even be bored.

Not every moment needs to be filled with lessons, activities, or entertainment.

Sometimes the empty space is where imagination grows. 💛

As parents, it’s worth asking: Are we giving our children enough space to simply be children?

What if helping a reluctant reader love books started with play—not pressure? 📚💛

In this episode of Bringing Education Home, I sit down with Sarah to explore creative ways to help kids build reading confidence and discover the joy of stories.

From movement and one-word-at-a-time storytelling to her “paper window” trick and a mystery-solving octopus, Sarah shares fun ways to make reading more engaging. 🐙🔎

We also talk about audiobooks, reading aloud, and meeting kids where they are—building on small wins to gradually grow their skills and stamina.
