School pictures will be taken during Assessment Days, Sept. 8th and 9th, so be sure to stop by the gym while you're here! (As a reminder, you will receive a link to sign up for your Assessment once teacher assignments are available in Infinite Campus. We will send an email around Friday, Aug. 28th to let you know when they are ready to view.)

We hope you're having an amazing summer and making lots of memories! Below are a few important dates to keep on your radar as we start looking ahead to another great school year at Five Hawks!

Here a couple of extra details regarding the events on the graphic:

☀️ New Elementary Family Open House:
This event is only for students who are new to Five Hawks (due to a boundary change, new to the district. etc.), and is a self-guided open house. We will provide maps for families to use as they explore Five Hawks, find classrooms, and become familiar with the building before the first day of school. There are no scheduled activities, and students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

📚 Assessment Days:
In August we'll be sending Back to School details to families via email, including a link to sign up for Assessment Days, where families can choose a 30-minute time slot on either September 8th or 9th to meet with their teacher. 📸 Lifetouch will also be at Five Hawks on Assessment Days for school pictures! Stop by the gym before or after your child's assessment to have their photo taken.

A New Chapter at Five Hawks Elementary! 📚

As we celebrate the retirement of Principal Katy Schuerman, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for her 34 years of dedication to education, including six years leading Five Hawks. Katy’s passion for students, belief in public education, and commitment to building a strong school community have left a lasting impact on countless students, families, and staff. Thank you, Katy, for your leadership, care, and the difference you’ve made. We wish you all the best as you begin an exciting “Chapter 2” filled with travel, family, and new adventures.

At the same time, we are excited to welcome Lisa Manders as the next principal of Five Hawks Elementary. Lisa brings extensive experience as an educator and leader, having served as a teacher, peer coach, district coordinator, dean of students, and most recently principal at WestWood Elementary. Her dedication to supporting students and staff, along with her proven leadership, make her a wonderful fit for the Five Hawks community.

Our Lost & Found is ready for the end of year clean‑out! Families can pick up their items today through Friday (lobby is open 8am-2:30pm). On Monday, anything still here is free for anyone who could use it. Everything left on Tuesday will be donated. Thank you for giving these items a chance to go home! 💛

Be more prepared for kindergarten! Experience a glimpse of kindergarten through summer camp. Activities will balance play and learning, and may include trying out the routine, exploring the outdoor learning sites and inside classrooms/pods and playground, getting to know each other through games, practice sitting and following directions, student initiated activities, access to maker spaces and/or technology and innovation opportunities, and more.
