FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: LATIN CLASS
Latin is such an important class and it's a great foundation and introduction to studying language(s). Not only does it help students excel in grammar, but it prepares them to be able to learn and understand other latin-based languages.

Additionally, students who study latin enhance their understanding of math & science, learn the etymology of many of the words in the english language, and are well-prepared for the SAT and entering higher education.

Day #1 - What an amazing team, we are so blessed!!!

INSERVICE DAY #1: IT BEGINS!!!
Wow, hard to believe classes start just 2 weeks from today! This was our largest staff meeting yet, with all of our staff from last year returning, as well as 3 new hires who are joining our Early Learning Team!

We really do have the best teaching team and staff in Central Oregon. They work well together, they work as a team, they share a common goal and purpose, and we serve a King who is so gracious to us. We love this team, and we can't wait to see what God does through them this year.

There was definitely a sense of excitement and "buzz" as preparations begin, curriculum is separated out, and classrooms are put together.

Each year just gets better and better, and we can't wait to see what God is going to do this year. We've also seen substantial enrollment growth, so we expect this year's back to school BBQ to be a lot of fun as our CCCS family continues to grow.

We can't wait to welcome students and families back! Mark your calendars for next Tuesday night, August 25th, for our Back to School BBQ event!

HELLO FAMILIES
Let's be praying for our state and for our community. We have staff under evacuation, we have families under evacuation. Pray for safety of those fighting the fires to protect lives and property. Pray for Ochoco Christian Conference Center.

**EDIT: The Prineville Review updated their story to help alleviate confusion and inquiries we were receiving.**

There has been some confusion this morning surrounding an article and post from the Prineville Review about a school closure. We just want to clarify for the community that they were not talking about CCCS, and that Crook County Christian School is NOT closing!

INTRODUCING OUR À LA CARTE PROGRAM FOR HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES IN PRINEVILLE
Crook County Christian School is deepening our partnership with the homeschooling community. One of the ways we're accomplishing that is by opening up our campus for existing homeschool families to come and take in-person classes. There are several advantages for homeschool families, including:

1. More elective options in a Christian environment
2. Expertise when teaching increasingly complex subject matter
3. Fun, social opportunities
4. More extra-curricular options
5. More opportunities than co-ops can offer
6. More effective, off-line learning than charter school options
7. Access to student clubs and activities (i.e. chapel)

There are many more benefits that can be realized with in-person learning opportunities. This can also be a key stepping stone for families wanting to transition from homeschooling to in-person learning.

Home school families in middle school or high school programs have the option of enrolling in person in any of the classes we offer to our full-time students.
