The Urban Ministry Initiatives (UMI) at Princeton Theological Seminary are unique because they recognize the multi-layered dimensions of Urban Ministry.

Our Story

With the support of the President’s office at PTS, a program designed to examine, evaluate and recommend best practices in urban ministry has been formed. Entitled “Urban Ministry Initiatives,” the program is administered through the Office of Multicultural Relations and has a Cabinet composed of faculty, clergy, educators, students, alumni, and community organizers. Ultimately, its mission is twofold:

• To educate seminarians to lead urban ministries and social agencies effectively; and,
• To develop broad collaborations to meet the Seminary's public service responsibility in urban communities around us.
