🩵 BLUE, THE MULE: A TAIL OF EARS AND CHEERS 🩵

Blue, the Mule, wasn’t always the most celebrated employee at the High Hopes Ranch. In fact, if you looked at the guest reviews from before the Summer of the Great Bonnet, you’d see more mentions of “donkey” than “delightful trail ride.”

Volume up and listen to the rain! 🔈

The weather never stops us from having a great time at camp 🌧️🐴

We started by practicing leading, helping both kids and horses begin each lesson with focus and clear communication. Today we made it out on the trail and ended the day with sunshine! ☀️

There is something special about watching a rider and horse move together with trust, balance, and understanding.

Our goal is to help students develop an independent, balanced seat and learn to communicate with softness rather than force. When riders understand how their position and timing influence the horse, they create a willing partner instead of simply directing one.

For us, success isn’t measured by ribbons—it’s measured by a horse that is relaxed, confident, and happy to work alongside its rider. Those are the partnerships that last a lifetime. 🐴✨

Susan and 2 year old Reese 🐎✨
Ground driving is one of the best tools for developing classical fundamentals. It helps the horse learn to bend correctly, maintain rhythm, improve balance, and respond to subtle rein and voice aids. These lessons transfer directly to riding or carriage driving, making future training clearer and more harmonious.
