Learning with a little fun! ✏️🎉 During Walk-to Intervention, students practiced phonics by writing on their tables with dry-erase markers—and they couldn’t believe it was actually allowed! 😂
They also used UNO cards to practice number sense. Simple tools, lots of engagement, and important skills in action! ❤️🏴‍☠️

❤️🖤 As educators, we are entrusted with much more than teaching—we are stewards of the children in our care.
Thank you, Selena Vickers, for bringing the Stewards of Children training to Mercer Elementary today. Training focused on preventing child aabuse helps us strengthen our awareness, recognize concerns, and respond responsibly to protect children.
Keeping children safe means listening, taking their concerns seriously, and creating an environment where they feel protected, valued, and comfortable asking for help. Every adult has a role in that responsibility.
We are grateful for this opportunity to learn and strengthen our commitment to the safety and well-being of every Mercer Pirate. 🏴‍☠️❤️. Today, we had 45 participants in this awesome session including nurses, social workers, school resource officers, and school staff. We leave feeling empowered and stronger as we take on the challenge of growing our students.

❤️🏴‍☠️ Just look at our beautiful Mercer Elementary School!
These two stunning photographs capture the beauty of a building that has been part of our community since 1912. First opened as a high school, she became an elementary school in the early 1920s—and her halls have welcomed generations of learners ever since.
Situated where Mercer, Honaker, and Douglas Streets meet, she stands as a lovely reminder of our community’s rich history, culture, and traditions. If these walls could talk, imagine the stories they would tell! ❤️
We are proud to be part of her story and to fill her halls with learning, laughter, and Pirate pride. Here’s to honoring our past while building a bright future! 🏴‍☠️
