"Hi my name is Tahleyah and I've been attending Second Story since I was a freshman in highschool. This past December in 2025 an amazing opportunity was given to me by Second Story to gain work experience through them. For about 6 months I had the opportunity to help out as a volunteer. I would help out in the kitchen, help supervise activity nights, and pretty much help out anywhere I could. Second Story is an amazing place that has helped me out greatly since I've been attending. It's wonderful how driven Second Story to help members of our community in a multitude of ways either by providing a safe space for teens, helping people in need, providing back to school supplies, or providing food and pantry items. In many ways Second Story would go to great lengths to help out the community and their teens. I am so grateful to have had access to a place like Second Story throughout my teen years. I'm forever appreciative of how supportive they've been and everything they have done for me. Second Story will forever hold a big impact on my life and in my heart."

Tuesday, August 18th, we loaded up extra shoes, T-shirts and food items our teens didn’t need or want.

We’re excited to partner with C.A.M.P. — Central American Mission Projects to help get these items to people who can use them! 🌎❤️

The next volunteer is Petey Callhan. The joy he brings to our kitchen is amazing. He helps out volunteering in the kitchen feeding teens every Friday night. We are so thankful for your time you take out of your Friday nights to serve our teens at the teen center. Thank you so much Petey! Help us show Petey our appreciation for all he does at Second Story!

"I'm Petey Callahan. I wash dishes and serve food to the kids on Friday nights. I like the sound of the kids playing and screaming and just being kids. I have gotten to know some of the kids and I like the cross generational communication. I think the Second Story is a great place for the kids to hang out. We had to hang out at the public parking lot in our town. The Second Story is much better. It is more organized, and the children get food and other things that are donated" -Petey Callahan

Our 2nd and 3rd Volunteers we want to put in the spotlight on this rainy Friday morning- Scott & Hollie Blakeley. They truly have a heart for our teens at Second Story. Hollie volunteers her time supporting our Junior High Life Group program. She also helps out as a monitor on our busy bus system. Her husband Scott helps drive our buses. We are so thankful for our wonderful transportation allowing us to get our teens to the center and back home safely each night we are open. He also monitors our check in area with the metal detector to make sure our teens are always safe at the center. A special thanks to these two in making our teen center a better place. We could not do it without you two! Please help us thank Scott and Hollie for their generous hearts.

"I am retired and we live on a rural homestead in Bradford. I help with Junior High Life Group and security check-ins and have volunteered for more than 6 years. Second Story impacts the community in many ways. We invest in Bureau County teens by offering a safe place to socialize, and enjoy various activities such as art, physical games, various computer and arcade games as well as billiards. The teens get fed nutritious meals and snacks and have the opportunity to take home food, pet, cleaning and school supplies, in addition to clothes from the pantry. We also have speakers and take field trips on occasion and provide tutoring and other additional programs with community partners. Many of the kids attend during the 6 grades when they are eligible and they often return to volunteer as adults!"- Scott & Hollie Blakeley.
