What if one of the greatest theological voices of the Americas is still waiting to be fully recognized?
"The only precious stone missing from the American Catholic Church's crown is a Doctor Ecclesiae Universalis." โ Dr. Theresa A. Yugar
To date, no woman from the Americas has been declared a Doctor Ecclesiae Universalis. The latest issue of Perspectivas seeks to address this historical absence by exploring why Sor Juana Inรฉs de la Cruz deserves serious consideration for this distinction. In doing so, this issue not only revisits the legacy of one of the Americasโ most remarkable thinkers but also contributes to a larger movement to recognize and restore her rightful place in theological history.
Whether you are interested in theology, history, literature, or the enduring impact of Sor Juanaโs thought, this issue invites readers to engage with groundbreaking scholarship that opens new avenues for research, reflection, and recognition.

What was your favorite part of this year's PDC? Share your highlight in the comments below! โฌ๏ธ
Last week, HTI welcomed more than 50 scholars and faculty to its annual Professional Development Conference for a week of learning, writing, networking, mentorship, and celebration.
From engaging workshops and meaningful conversations to reconnecting with colleagues, discovering who the "OGs" were versus the "NGs," and building new relationships, the PDC continues to be a space where scholars are equipped, encouraged, and inspired while strengthening the HTI familia.
Thank you to everyone who made this year's conference such a memorable experience. HTI is grateful to provide opportunities for scholars to grow together as a community committed to advancing theological and religious education.
