Description
With Origins3D students think, design, draw and realize ideas directly in 3D - like modern engineers and scientists. Its patented architecture - developed by former NASA consultants - empowers students to create objects and structures using design principles that systematize natural interaction with physical space.
Origins3D includes 37 lessons of increasing complexity developed in collaboration with students and teachers in the Fairfax, VA, County Public School (FCPS) system. The lessons rapidly train students to design innovative parts and assembly drawings for 3D printing - accelerating learning and maximizing intellect-based productivity.
STEM Teaching
Origins3D can be easily integrated into STEM curriculums. In the FCPS such integration has infused student creativity, broadened multi-dimensional thinking processes and increased imaginative capacity, building confidence and freeing time that can be used toward learning in other parts of the curriculum.
Since 2007 over 100,000 students in the FCPS have used Origins3D to design classroom projects such as building bridges, towers, rockets, cars and airplanes. Origins3D designed projects are featured in several State, regional and national competitions for discovering the best talent in technical drawing and product design. Students have used Origins3D to design, machine and manufacture Formula One (F1) model race cars that have consistently placed among the top five finishers in every category in several events of the prestigious Annual Technology Student Association Engineering Design Challenge.
