Superintendent Ed Toman spent part of today visiting several of our elementary schools — Mercer County Early Learning Center, Straley, Princeton Primary, Mountain Valley, Bluefield Intermediate, Bluefield Primary, Timberwood, Mercer, and Montcalm!

It was a great opportunity to see classrooms in action, visit with students, and check in with the wonderful teachers, staff, and principals who are making the start of the 2026–2027 school year such a positive one.

Tomorrow, Mr. Toman will continue his school visits, heading to the PikeView feeder schools to say hello and see how their year is getting underway.

We’re off to a great start, Mercer County! 🍎📚

It’s been an amazing start to the 2026-2027 school year!

Superintendent Ed Toman spent the day visiting each of our middle and high schools, checking in with principals, staff, and, most importantly, our students!

Strong leadership from our principals and the hard work of our teachers and staff have helped set a positive tone for the year ahead. Mr. Toman enjoyed seeing our schools in action, visiting with students, and experiencing the energy and excitement happening across Mercer County Public Schools.

We’re off to a great start, and we can’t wait to see what this year brings!

🚨 SLOW DOWN — OUR EAGLES ARE BACK! 🦅💚💛

As we begin our first full week of school, we want to remind our families and community members to slow down and use extra caution when traveling through our school zones. Our students are arriving and leaving each day, and their safety is our top priority.

A special THANK YOU to Captain Ballard and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department for bringing the speed trailer to Sun Valley to help remind drivers to check their speed and keep our Eagles safe! We appreciate your continued support of our school and community. 💚

Montcalm Elementary School will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, August 25th, on regular schedule. Water will be provided for drinking and cooking while the area is under a boil water advisory.
