Top Five Things You Should Know about the Bachelor of Music in Music Education Degree at Westminster Choir College of Rider University.

1. The music education degree is the most versatile of all music degrees, preparing certified music teachers and providing them with solid foundation for future graduate study in other areas, including conducting, performance, music therapy, and composition. Degree recipients are certified to teach preK-12 music in New Jersey and can easily attain certification in other states.

2. Unlike many programs in the country, Westminster music education majors have access to the same private lesson teachers, hour-long lessons, recitals, and audition opportunities as performance majors.

3. Beyond enjoying successful careers as school music teachers, our graduates also direct church choirs, teach privately, perform professionally, or go on to earn graduate degrees and teach in higher education.

4. Music education majors are out in schools throughout their degree program, observing and teaching to ensure that they are prepared and committed to providing meaningful musical experiences.

5. In collaboration with the School of Education, we offer a 5-year bachelor of music in music education with a master of arts in teaching degree to our highest achieving students.
