Central Jersey/Princeton-area friends: come help build a science of democracy repair! the Electoral Innovation Lab has several part-time opportunities at a growing independent organization in its early stages.
Based on work coming out of Princeton University, City University of New York, and other institutions, we are putting science and computation to work. See representable.org and gerrymander.princeton.edu for examples of our projects. And now, for where the Electoral Innovation Lab is headed, see electoral-lab.org.
First, we need a part-time person to do core administrative tasks. The work includes keeping books, processing donations, and making sure we pay consultants, rent, and other contracts. It's basic but essential work.
The second role is to fill an Associate Director role. This is a part-time or consulting position. Major priorities are building program, fundraising, and communications. In this election year, many people are concerned about democracy, That person would work with me closely, and assuming the best, this may be convertible to a full-time position.

Democracy-minded friends, the Princeton Gerrymandering Project is looking for some help to maintain and develop the site gerrymander.princeton.edu. If you know your way around Netlify, Gatsby, AirTable, and AWS, hit me up. Local talent preferred!

The county line is down for the count. Today, a judge used facts, statistics, and survey science to determine that New Jersey's curious ballot system violates the rights of candidates and voters alike. As a result, this year's elections will be decided not by those who design the ballots, but by those who cast the ballots. Read on:

I had a great time last month at Rockefeller University, where I gave an Insight Lecture on the science of repairing democracy. It was the third time I've given an Insight Lecture. Every time a great audience and great discussion.
Here it is. Start here (or rewind to hear President Rick Lifton say great things about me):
Insight Lecture Featuring Sam Wang, Ph.D. Sam Wang, Ph.D., professor of neuroscience at Princeton University, discusses how we reached this deeply polarized moment in American politics, what factors ...

Here at Princeton, we're looking forward to hearing from Lee Drutman of New America on ways to fix our fraying democracy. Should be a great lecture and conversation with Sam Wang!
