Life After Ramadan | ماذا بعد رمضان؟
By Shaykh Ismael Essa - إسماعيل عيسى
Once Ramadan ends, an important question arises: What comes next?
Ramadan fills our hearts with light, discipline, and a profound connection to the Qur’an. However, once the blessed month ends, many of us struggle to maintain that closeness. Here are a few tips to ensure that the Qur’an remains alive in our hearts throughout the year.
1. Begin Small, Maintain Consistency:
Don’t feel compelled to read entire Juz’ (chapter) daily. Even maintaining a few pages or verses regularly can keep you grounded and connected to the Qur’an.
Consistency is more important than quantity. The Prophet ﷺ said:
(أَحَبَّ الأَعْمَالِ إِلَى اللَّهِ أَدْوَمُهَا وَإِنْ قَلَّ) The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they are small.”
(Narrated by al-Bukhari)
2. Understand the Meaning:
Reading the Qur’an with a translation and tafseer helps in comprehending its essence, fostering a deeper connection, and enhancing your appreciation for the Qur’an.
3. Reflect and Live by the Qur’an:
Engage in self-reflection and consider what the verse is conveying. Strive to align your actions with its guidance. and remember this beautiful verse:
{وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا ۚ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ}
As for those who struggle in Our cause, We will surely guide them along Our Way. And Allah is certainly with the good-doers
(Surah Al- 'Ankabut: 69)
4. Establish a Routine:
Choose a dedicated time and place where you can focus, such as after Fajr, during a quiet lunch break, or before bed. Incorporate Qur’anic reading into your daily routine.
5. Cultivate a Stronger Bond through Du’aa:
Seek Allah’s guidance and open your heart to His book. A sincere du’aa like “Ya Allah, make the Qur’an the spring of my heart” can have a profound impact.
In conclusion, Ramadan has ended, but the relationship with the Qur’an should never pause.
Keep the momentum, and don’t be seasonal worshippers, but lifelong servants of Allah.
May Allah help us preserve the spirit of Ramadan through the Qur’an and sincere intention.
