Today we celebrated the retirement of Rose Jagus, an accomplished molecular biologist in the field of translation initiation, and a good friend from the Center of Environmental Technology in Baltimore. When I was a newly minted assistant professor, Rose took me under her wing, mentoring me and helping me (with Al Place) to initiate my independent research career at UMES. I'm forever indebted Rose, and thanks for a lot of good laughs along the way! As an aside, Izzy won first place today at the ARD meeting in New Orleans, so I included a photo that Wayne forwarded to me.
