The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program gives eligible U.S. undergraduate students the opportunity to spend a summer abroad in intensive language study and cultural learning with program costs covered.

At UMES, the Foreign Language Instructional Center (FLIC) offers courses in critical languages including Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Swahili and Portuguese.
