The Maryland State Police (MSP) Aviation Command recently landed on the UMES School of Pharmacy and Health Professions (SPHP) campus, giving University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) students, SPHP students, and other members of the UMES campus community a firsthand look at the critical role of air medical transport in rural healthcare.

The visit was part of the two-week Rural-MD Pre-Matriculation Program, hosted by UMES in collaboration with UMSOM, where incoming medical students gain firsthand experience with the unique opportunities and challenges of practicing medicine on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

During the visit, the MSP Aviation Command team shared the challenges of delivering emergency care in rural communities and demonstrated how rapid air transport can make a lifesaving difference when every minute counts.

We were proud to celebrate the Class of 2026 at this year’s Pharmacy Hooding & Awards Ceremony. The ceremony recognized the hard work and dedication of our graduating pharmacists as they stepped into their roles as healthcare professionals, made even more meaningful by the presence of University President Dr. Heidi M. Anderson and Provost Dr. Rondall E. Allen. Special thanks to keynote speaker Dr. Howard Haft for sharing thoughtful and inspiring remarks with our graduates. The evening concluded with the recitation of the Oath of a Pharmacist, reaffirming each graduate’s commitment to patient care, professionalism, and public health.

Started with a White Coat Ceremony selfie, full of hope and big dreams… and somehow we blinked and it’s 3 years later. Now we’re at our celebration dinner, just days from graduation. Time really said fast forward. So many memories, so much growth, and now it’s almost time for the next chapter. We really did that. Congrats Class of 2026!!

UMES PSGA hosted its 13th Annual 5K Strides for Epilepsy - PSGA's biggest event yet - raising over $4,000 to support the UNA and CURE Epilepsy. This race remains CURE's longest-running community event. From start to finish, this event reflected EXCELLENCE, TEAMWORK, and IMPACT!
