Hello, my name is Haleigh. I was diagnosed in the first grade with dyslexia by a private doctor. The public school system I was in didn’t believe something was wrong with me. just because I had a high IQ. After third grade, I was taken out of the public school system. My parents decided to get me tested by another doctor. That doctor told my family that I was the poster child for dyslexia. Like the giant poster, you see on the side of the road. My dyslexia was that bad. At this point, I was home-schooled. Halfway through fourth grade, I shadowed at The Summit School. I cried almost the whole day. My parents knew that was the school for me. When I started at The Summit School, I was only able to read at a first-grade level. I was told I would carry a book around because I wanted to read by myself. That school helped so much that you won’t even know that I was diagnosed with dyslexia. I was at The Summit School up until the eighth grade. I ended up at a school where they teach kids how to work in the workforce and not more on the educational side. I was there only for a couple of months before my parents took me out of that school. They decided to put me back into public school. I was there for about a year and a half. Until they found a private school on the Easton shore. They knew that I should have been there all along. So just remember that dyslexia doesn’t look all the same for everyone.

For those that will be attending I have attached a map to help when you arrive. There are several lots for parking and you can use the road on both sides for overflow parking. Please enter through the double doors through the building indicated on the map. Head straight in and go downstairs to the gym. There should also be volunteers there to help guide people. Don't forget to bring a non-perishable food item if you can. Hope to see you there!
