Reminder: Two-Hour Early Dismissal for Professional Learning this Wednesday, Sept. 16. Morning and afternoon half-day Pre-K classes will not meet on early release days.

Transportation Reminder for Early Dismissal Days:
🚌 Buses will transport students two hours earlier than usual to their regular afternoon drop-off locations.

Important for Parents of K–2 Students:
An adult must be present at drop-off. If no adult is available, your child will be returned to their school, which may delay transportation for other students later in the day. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Twenty-five years ago on September 11, 2001, we lost one of our own.

Edmond “E.G.” Young, Jr. was a CTA alumnus.

As a student at Northern High School, E.G.’s interest in computers brought him to what was then the Calvert Career Center, now the Career & Technology Academy. He continued his education in computer applications and network administration and built a career in information technology.

On September 11, 2001, E.G. was working as a desktop support technician at the Pentagon, using the very kind of technical skills that first brought him through the doors of our school. He was just 22 years old.

There is something especially meaningful about remembering E.G. here at CTA. More than 25 years ago, he sat in classrooms like ours, discovered something he was good at, developed skills for his future, and turned those skills into a career of service.

Today, another generation of students walks those halls and prepares for careers in IT and cybersecurity and so many other fields. E.G.’s story reminds us that the work happening inside a career and technical school can carry far beyond its walls.

On this September 11, we are proud to say his name and honored to remember him as part of the CTA family.

Twenty-five years later, Calvert County students climbed to remember.

Led by CTA’s Fire & Rescue cadets, students from Calvert and Northern High Criminal Justice, Calvert NJROTC, and other CTA programs completed 2,200 flights of stairs to honor the first responders who answered the call on September 11, 2001.

We are incredibly proud of our students for taking the time to honor, remember, and understand this important history. 🇺🇸

As a new school year begins, we celebrate the students, educators and supporters of Calvert County's agricultural education programs during the International Year of the Woman Farmer.

Through the Calvert Career and Technology Academy - CCPS Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE) courses and Calvert FFA, students gain hands-on experience, leadership skills and career pathways that prepare them to become the next generation of agricultural professionals and innovators. These programs help cultivate future farmers, agribusiness leaders, scientists, educators and advocates who will shape the future of agriculture in Calvert County, Maryland, and beyond.

Thank you to the teachers, advisors, families and community partners who invest in agricultural education and help students grow their knowledge, confidence and leadership skills. Here's to another successful school year and to the future leaders of agriculture!
