Photography CDA Dawn C Mertens Wass Dawn is a 35 year old mother of two, Jack is 7 and Lauren is 5. They live in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Dawn was pursuing an education at Montana State University in Billings, Montana to become a psychologist. At the age of 30 it was discovered that she had a brain aneurysm which required surgery. A day following surgery she suffered a stroke and was in a coma for 8 days. When she awoke from the coma she began the long road of recovery and today is functioning fully with some minor difficulties. Thi

s road to recovery has been challenging and leaves her not able to read at the level that will allow her to fully return to her college studies. So she is pursuing other interests as she continues the healing process; thus, her work in photography. Her interest began with a small camera taking pictures of her children, her subjects broadened to the wild animals and birds living on Lake Pend Oreille just outside her home in Bayview, Idaho. She discovered that she had an eye for light and color and purchased a new camera, in order to further develop her artistic talents. She has refined that talent to what you see displayed here. Dawn’s future plans are to return to college and complete her dreams of helping others. Since her own stroke she has helped other stroke victims and hopes to be able to continue helping with a career in psychology. Her talent with photography will continue as a fulfilling hobby and an outlet for her talents.
