The policies below are provided for you to have a clear understanding of what is expected from you and/or your child, as well as what is expected from me as your teacher. By following these guidelines, we will optimize the lesson time and keep the learning enjoyable and productive! If you have any questions about any of the policies, do not hesitate to ask. Who I teach
I accept voice students at a
ny level and beginner piano students ages 10 and older. Younger students may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Weekly Lessons
I provide weekly lessons, meaning your lesson day and time is secured for you. The rate for recurring weekly lessons is $35/half-hour and $65/hour. Single Lessons
If you only wish to take a few lessons, or take lessons at a non-specific time interval, I will accommodate such requests. The rate for single lessons without monthly commitment is $45/half hour and $75/hour. Tuition
Payments for recurring weekly lessons are paid monthly and are due on the 1st of each month. Payments for single lessons are due at the lesson. Payments can be paid via check, cash, or Venmo. I will be as flexible as possible for those with special financial needs or concerns when communicated ahead of accrual of charges. Please understand that the studio income is a means of financial support, therefore consistent, prompt payment is essential. A $20 late fee will be added for payments not received by the 1st of each month. Cancelled/Missed Lessons
You are expected to attend your lessons regularly. If you must cancel a lesson, you must do so by 7 PM the evening before. If you must miss a lesson and give proper notice, I will offer a make-up lesson at a mutually agreeable day and time. If notice is not given, I reserve the right to not offer a make-up lesson and therefore payment for that lesson is forfeited. To cancel a lesson, simply call or text 410-725-6842. You must receive confirmation from me that I have received your message for a lesson to be considered cancelled. Missed lessons will not be refunded. If I must miss a lesson with a student, I will do my absolute best to reschedule it. If, for some reason, I cannot make up a lesson, payment from that lesson will be credited towards the next month's bill. Of course, emergencies happen. In the case of an emergency I will make every effort to reschedule the lesson. Examples of excused and unexcused absence.
1. Illness or injury which prevents school/work attendance: excused with make-up option
2. Any absence where the teacher is notified by 7 PM the evening before the lesson: excused with make-up option
3. Lack of transportation: unexcused, no makeup offered
4. Did not practice for this week: unexcused, no make-up offered
5. Forgot lesson, or lesson is not "convenient": unexcused, no make-up offered
Discontinuing Lessons
Cancellation of study in the studio requires a 4-lesson notice unless otherwise agreed upon. Payment for and/or completion of 4 lessons must be made after notification of intent to quit has been made. Online Lessons
Kevin Thomas Music Studio is also offering online voice and piano lessons. This option has been added during the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue for students wishing to continue lessons outside of the studio setting, or for those who do not live within the area. Zoom is the platform used for online lessons. For piano lessons, only one electronic device is required to operate the Zoom call. A computer is preferred as you can manipulate the volume settings that are not available on mobile devices. For voice lessons, two devices are required: one for the Zoom call and one to play backing tracks for the student to use as accompaniment. A USB microphone is suggested. All other aspects of online lessons will be the same as regular music studio lessons, as will the tuition payment schedule and rules.
