From Region Two concurrent enrollment student to the national stage.

Congratulations to Lyndsay Little, who is representing Maine at the National SkillsUSA Competition in Georgia this week.

Lyndsay is one of several students representing Northern Maine Community College, local Career and Technical Education schools and Aroostook County on the national stage through SkillsUSA competition.

Currently taking Allied Health concurrent enrollment courses through Region Two and NMCC, Lyndsay is building skills and experience that will support her future goals in veterinary medicine.

“Coming from a small town and rural area, and having never been to Georgia, this will definitely be new to me,” Lyndsay shared. “Between SkillsUSA events such as competitions, ceremonies and orientation, and other attractions around the area, I know the trip will go by quickly.”

Lyndsay says she especially enjoyed studying medical terminology, learning prefixes, suffixes, abbreviations and other healthcare language that will help her in future healthcare and veterinary studies. This fall, she hopes to continue building her skills through phlebotomy training.

After high school graduation, Lyndsay plans to attend a four-year college to earn a pre-veterinary degree before continuing on to veterinary school to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

We are proud to see students like Lyndsay pursuing their goals, challenging themselves through career and technical education and representing our region at the national level.

Good luck in Georgia, everyone!

NMCC was honored to attend the Caribou Tech Center (CTC) awards ceremony this morning and celebrate several exceptional students, some of whom will continue their education at NMCC this fall.

We were incredibly impressed by the outstanding work being done at Caribou Tech Center and the strong support the staff provide to help students succeed both in the classroom and beyond.

NMCC OnCourse for College Coordinator Sarah Bushey awarded two $2,000 Embark Scholarships to Brady Barnes and Desirae Ouellette.

Brady, who was also named the 2025–2026 CTC Student of the Year, recently earned a gold medal in the job interview competition at SkillsUSA Maine and will represent CTC at the national SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference this June. He will enter NMCC’s Electrical Construction & Maintenance program this fall.

Desirae, also a Maine FFA Association student, will join NMCC’s Welding program.

Also recognized were future Falcons Lukas Landeen, who will study Networking & Cybersecurity, and Jonas Elliott, who will enter the Diesel Hydraulics program.

We are proud of these students and excited to welcome them to the NMCC community this fall.

NMCC is grateful for our partnerships with regional career and technical education centers to support workforce development and create pathways to high-demand careers across Maine.

Growing stronger each year through the power of community. 🖍️🧩

Before Commencement weekend, NMCC hosted the Third Annual Aroostook Early Childhood Conference, “Rooted in Connection,” welcoming early childhood educators, child care providers, advocates, and community partners from across Maine for a day of learning, collaboration, and inspiration.

Thanks to the continued support of our community and partners, this year’s conference saw its highest attendance yet, with participation continuing to grow each year. Attendees traveled from across the state, including from as far as Falmouth, to take part in the event here in Northern Maine.

The conference featured keynote sessions and workshops focused on inclusion, connection, play-based learning, and supporting children of all abilities. Attendees also connected with organizations and vendors from across the region, including the Maine Department of Education Early Learning Team, Help Me Grow Maine, UMPI, Family Child Care Association of Maine, and the Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies.

NMCC’s Early Childhood Education Club also hosted a Bags of Belongings drive to support children in foster care through Sabrina’s Suitcases, with many attendees donating new bags and suitcases.

Thank you to the presenters, sponsors, vendors, community partners, and attendees who continue to help this conference grow and make a lasting impact for children, families, and educators throughout our region.
