🏛️ Throwback to August 18, 1903!

On this day, Aroostook State Normal School (ASNS) was dedicated, an important milestone in the history of the institution we know today as the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI).

What began as a school focused on preparing educators would continue to grow, change, and serve generations of students across northern Maine and beyond. More than 120 years later, the names, programs, and campus may look different, but the commitment to education, opportunity, and community remains part of UMPI’s story. 💙💛

Today is a great day to celebrate where we started, the people who helped shape the institution, and all the Owls who have carried that legacy forward.

Incoming: a whole new flock! 🦉🎉

The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) Class of 2030 is arriving, and we think their first weekend deserves a few familiar Owl faces.

Fall Orientation is happening August 28–30, and yes, alumni, you read that correctly: NOT Labor Day weekend. 🙌

If you’re an alum living in Presque Isle or nearby, consider this your invitation to come home, show a little Owl pride, and help us welcome our newest students.

Remember your first days at UMPI? The excitement. The nerves. Trying to remember everyone’s name. Trying to remember which building was which. 😄

Now you can be one of the people who makes those first days a little more welcoming for someone else.

University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) will serve as the Aroostook stop on the Maine Historical Society’s statewide tour of the Declaration of Independence, featuring one of only 26 surviving copies of the Dunlap Broadside.

Printed in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776, the Dunlap Broadside was sent to the colonies to announce American independence.

Join the Aroostook Area Agency On Aging and the Presque Isle Historical & Genealogical Society Vera Estey House for a Historic UMPI Campus Walking Tour on Wednesday, August 19, at 10:00 am.

Meet in the Upper Merriman parking lot across from Kelley Commons.

Only 30 spots are available, so call 207-764-3396 to reserve yours. Comfortable walking shoes are highly encouraged; historical curiosity is required.

Adults aged 50 and older are invited to stop by for a FREE balance screening today until 3 pm. The screening includes one-on-one assessments of movement, balance, strength, and walking.

Each year, our graduating seniors can give back by donating their class year ($20.26 for the Class of 2026) to support the alumni scholarship. Those donating receive a philanthropy cord. This year, the Class of 2026 raised an incredible $3,498! Representing the class, Aleix Moreno presented the ceremonial check to UMPI President Raymond Rice.
