A great evening of career exploration at 4-H Great Lakes & Natural Resources Camp!
Campers discovered what it takes to manage Michigan’s forests and wildlife, protect communities from wildfires while using prescribed fire to improve habitat, monitor aquatic invasive species alongside fisheries scientists, and even deploy remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) to investigate underwater habitats and historic shipwrecks beneath the Great Lakes.
A huge thank you to our outstanding partners who helped make the career night evening a success:
🌲 Michigan Department of Natural Resources Forest Resources Division
🦌 Michigan Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division
🚔 Michigan Department of Natural Resources Law Division
🐟 U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Alpena Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office
⚓ NOAA Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary
These dedicated professionals shared their expertise, passion, and personal career journeys, helping campers explore the many opportunities available in Michigan’s natural resources fields. We are grateful for their time and commitment to inspiring the next generation of scientists, conservationists, resource managers, outdoor professionals, and Great Lakes stewards.
