Zippel was rockin’ some seriously wild style today for Crazy Hair / Hat Day 🤪🎩

We saw everything from bedhead masterpieces to hats with big personality — and plenty of hilarious moments in between. The creativity, laughs, and “Did you see THAT hat?!” reactions made for an awesome day around the building.

📸 Check out a few of the photo highlights below — our students (and staff!) absolutely brought the fun today!

Good morning Zippel! These keys were found at drop off this morning. They have two sets of car keys on them - Nissan and Honda. If they belong to you they can be picked up at the main office.

Zippel Families,

It is with heavy hearts that we share some very sad news. Over Christmas break, Josh Fuller passed away unexpectedly.

Josh was a beloved member of our Zippel team, serving as a custodian and bus driver, and working each day in our 3rd grade wing. Josh was loved by so many students and colleagues. He had an infectious personality, a positive attitude, and a kindness that showed in everything he did. Many of our students knew Josh as the grown up with the big smile, a kind word, and plenty of fist bumps and high fives. He had a special way of making people feel important, seen, and cared for, and his absence will be deeply felt in our school.

We’re sharing this today so families can talk at home over the weekend if they’d like, and so students know what to expect when they return on Monday. Kids respond differently. Some will be sad right away, some will have questions, and some may not show much at first. As parents and guardians, you know your child best, and your support is essential. A simple, reassuring message is often enough: “You’re safe, you're loved, and your family and school will help.” We will rally around students at school, and we’re thankful that our families will rally around them at home, too.

When we return to school on Monday, we will have supports in place for students who may need to connect with an adult. Mrs. Guerrette, our school counselor, will be available throughout the day for students who need support. In addition, school counselors from other MSAD #1 schools will be at Zippel to provide extra support as needed. We will also offer ways for students to honor Josh, including a memory wall and other activities where students can share kind messages and memories with friends and Zippel staff.

As a school community, we are grieving together. We also want Josh’s family and friends to know that the Zippel community is heartbroken, and we are holding them close in our thoughts. Josh mattered here. He mattered to our students. He mattered to our staff. And he will be remembered with love.

Thank you for your kindness and support as we care for our children, and one another, through this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Mr. Hallett
Principal
