A Message from Gentile Hall

Gentile Hall has been proud to serve our students, alumni, and the broader UMPI community, and we are deeply grateful for your loyalty and your enthusiasm for the facility we share.

In Spring 2021, the student recreation fee was paused at its then-rate of $45 per semester, the annual alumni membership fee of $275 was paused, and Gentile Hall's remaining membership and drop-in fees were significantly reduced. Since that time, our dedicated staff has worked hard to keep the facility running. The reality, however, is that without consistent funding, our ability to maintain equipment and address the everyday wear and tear of a busy, well-loved recreation center has been strained. Our community deserves better, and we are committed to delivering it.

Beginning July 1, 2026, we are reestablishing the student recreation fee at $50 per semester, just $5 more than where it was paused five years ago, and the annual alumni membership fee will be reestablished at $150. These updates will allow us to invest in updated equipment, address deferred maintenance, and keep our spaces safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone who walks through our doors.

For perspective, community gym memberships in the Presque Isle area typically range from $40 to $80 per month. At $50 per semester, our students continue to receive exceptional value and full access to Gentile Hall. At $150 per year, the alumni membership rate remains well below the pre-2021 rate of $275 and represents a meaningful benefit available to our Owl community.

Due to the weather, UMPI and Gentile Hall will delay opening until 11:00 am.

Morning swimming lessons and water exercise will be canceled for today.

Due to lack of staff, the pool will not be open for LAP SWIM from 8-9am and WATER EXERCISE at 10am.
