Calling all visual artists*! MTN is seeking visual art about TRANS JOY.
The art will be featured in a calendar that will give us and our community a full year of reminders that joy and delight are our birthrights. It will also be sold as a fundraiser to support MTN's programming.

Prompts:
What does it mean to experience joy, delight, sweetness, and love as a trans person?
How would you visually represent trans joy? What is its shape and color?
What brings you joy as a trans person? Is it a location? A feeling? A thing? An experience? How can you show that thing, person, place, feeling?
How does joy bring meaning to your life? What does that look like?
What kind of work are we looking for?
Paintings
Drawings
Digital art
Comics
Word art
Collage

And ALL types of visual art, from beginners to experienced artists*

Due date for all art is May 30, 2023

In conjunction with our art auction this year, we're commissioning poets who would like to sign up to write a poem about an art piece in the auction. These poets will be published in a zine, and read their poems at the showcase. We will have registration for this between now and May 8th.

If you'd like to see examples of art from previous years before you submit poems in registration, you can either look at our older Instagram and Facebook posts, or email [email protected].

Use this link to register (which is also in our LinkTree): https://forms.gle/SkPizLnyYB6v4FwGA

We thank The Equality Community Center, Indigo Arts Alliance, Maine Humanities Council, The Portland Public Library, QueerCraftME, and Rainbow Arts Collective as our key collaborators.
