YASD students recently stepped outside the classroom to explore the aviation industry firsthand at Leighnor Aircraft!
Students got an inside look at aircraft maintenance, flight mechanics, operations, and pilot training—even taking a turn in the flight simulator.
A major highlight was meeting a high school senior balancing an aircraft mechanic apprenticeship with earning his pilot's license—getting paid to learn while mastering flight from both the cockpit and the hanger.
Beyond the runway, students even got a quick lesson in high-speed teamwork and organization watching the airport restaurant crew in action.
From apprenticeships and certifications to college credit pathways, this trip showed our students just how many exciting ways there are to launch a career in aviation.
