Behind the Scenes: An Unforgettable Day on the Set of Criminal Minds
Recently, a group of our Prescott Conservatory young performers had an extraordinary opportunity to spend the day on the set of Criminal Minds, receiving the full behind-the-scenes experience of a working television production.
With the incredible generosity of Stacey Beneville, Erica Messer, and Glen Kershaw, our students were welcomed into a world most young performers only ever see on a screen.
They met members of the cast and crew, spoke with department heads about the many different careers that come together to create a television show, and asked thoughtful questions about everything from acting and directing to production, writing, camera work, and the business of entertainment.
And yes… they even got to sit around the iconic BAU round table! These kiddos also had the opportunity to run a scene from last season and, naturally, there was eventually a death and... well you theatre kids... they cannot resist a good stage death!
Experiences like this are exactly why we believe arts education should extend beyond the classroom and rehearsal studio. Young artists need opportunities to see the industry up close, meet the professionals who make it happen, ask questions, and begin imagining themselves as part of that world.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who opened the door and allowed our students to experience a day they will remember for years to come. And who knows where this kind of experience might lead them next? This is performing arts education. This is mentorship. This is inspiration. This is the Prescott Conservatory.
