This is incredible news to share on National Police Woman Day!

Yavapai College has promoted Megyn Felton to lieutenant with the Yavapai College Police Department, recognizing her extensive experience, leadership and commitment to the safety of the college community. Felton’s career with Yavapai College began as a student in the Administration of Justice program. She went on to build her career with the Yavapai College Police Department, serving as an Administration of Justice Services intern, part-time safety officer, full-time safety officer and lead safety officer before becoming an Arizona full-authority peace officer.

Since becoming a sworn officer, Felton has served the department as a police detective, patrol corporal, patrol sergeant and detective sergeant. Her promotion to lieutenant represents the latest step in a career she began as a Yavapai College student.

“Megyn’s promotion is a tremendous accomplishment and a reflection of her dedication to Yavapai College,” said Yavapai College Acting President Dr. Doug Berry. “Our police department plays a critical role in creating a safe environment where our students, faculty and staff can learn and work. Megyn brings experience, leadership and a deep understanding of our college community to this important role, and I congratulate her on this well-deserved promotion.”

It’s a celebration! 🎉 📚

On Constitution Day/Citizenship Day Sept 17, 2026, the Boyd Tenney Library in the Center for Learning & Innovation on the Prescott campus is celebrating its 50th year anniversary serving the people of Yavapai County by making government documents available and accessible, free of charge and without impediments, to the public.

Light celebratory refreshments will be served, giveaway swag, and information about the Constitution will be available from 12:30-1:30pm on the 1st floor of the Center for Learning & Innovation in Building 19.

The current Government Docs librarian is YC/NAU/UofA alum, Shelly Gilliam, who also serves as the YC archivist and library manager overseeing OER, Instruction, & Public Services.

Yavapai College’s Aimee Novak Feels the Mood—the Mood for Food 🍲

Now in her third year with the institution, Yavapai College Executive Director of Culinary Experience Aimee Novak leads culinary operations and strategic dining initiatives, with a focus on aligning food service programs with the College’s mission, sustainability goals, and student wellness priorities.

Tasked with maintaining a high-quality, full-service restaurant—The Eatery on the Prescott campus—Novak says that her day-to-day is about balancing their internal processes with those that are a part of our wider college culture.

“I’m always considering ways to support the health and nutritional needs of our students while also maintaining our commitment to bringing forth seasonal and local products where possible within a sustainable commercial kitchen environment,” Novak said. “That target is always moving.”
