Save the date for the Spring Health Sciences Career Expo, Tuesday February 11th in Prescott Valley and Thursday March 6th in Verde Valley!

Don’t forget, the November SNA meeting is this Wednesday the 13th at 1600! In person at the Prescott campus building 3 room 205, or online via the Google Meets link posted on Canvas.

If you are interested in running for any of the open officer positions for the Spring semester, please submit a bio prior to the meeting. The candidates will be announced and a voting link provided during the November meeting, and the new officers will be announced at the December meeting.

Several SNA Officer positions will be available in the Spring Semester due to current officers graduating! If you’d like to serve your Yavapai College Student Nurses’ Association as an officer, please email a short bio and which position you are interested to [email protected] by Tuesday, November 12. Candidates will be announced at the November 13th SNA meeting with vote held by secret ballot, and the winners will be announced at the December 4th SNA meeting.

⚡️Atrial Fibrillation with Rapid Ventricular Response (RVR): What You Need to Know ⚡️ In Afib, the atria depolarize chaotically, sending irregular and disorganized signals to the AV node. When these signals overwhelm the AV node, the result is a rapid ventricular response — often exceeding 100 bpm — leading to Afib with RVR. Clinically, patients may present with palpitations, dyspnea, hypotension, or even signs of heart failure. It’s crucial to recognize this early to prevent hemodynamic instability or further deterioration. Treatment goals focus on rate control, primarily with anti-dysrhythmics like Amiodarone, beta-blockers (e.g., metoprolol) or calcium channel blockers (e.g., diltiazem), depending on patient factors like left ventricular function. For patients who remain unstable, synchronized cardioversion may be indicated. Don’t forget: Managing Afib with RVR also involves addressing the underlying cause, whether it’s electrolyte imbalances, infection, or cardiac ischemia. Tuesday, September 17th from 3-6pm, the Prescott Valley Job Fair will be held at the Findley Toyota Center in Prescott Valley. Over 50 employers from different industries will be represented, including health care. Students can contact [email protected] for assistance.

Newly opened at the Prescott Campus, Ruff's Closet provides professional attire for students needing business-appropriate clothing for interviews and jobs.

Ruff’s Closet is open from noon to 7 p.m. weekdays for student shoppers and to take donations of new, gently used and clean business clothing and shoes from everyone. Find it in Room 125A in Building 3 on the Prescott Campus. Direct questions to [email protected].
