This month in group lessons, we are learning a short lesson on jazz piano. And we will be using the boom whackers. Here are some of my teen girls using the boom whackers to play a walking base.

Group lessons are this week👏🏻. We will be learning how to conduct just like Leonard Bernstein; we will be using a variety of instruments to learn about rhythm; and we’ll learn a little about his Young People’s Concerts. Did you know that Leonard Bernstein once led an orchestra using only his eyes?!👀

Group lessons this month will be the last week of April, the week of April 25th. We are going to be pulling out the boom whackers as well as learning how to conduct. Our composer of the month this month is Leonard Bernstein who is a very famous conductor as well as a great composer. He composed one of my top five musicals of all time Westside Story. I encourage you guys to watch the 1961 version if you have younger children. The 2021 version is free on Disney+ right now, but it is more PG-13-ish but also very good.

We are finishing up our month of composer George Gershwin. He is most known for his song Rhapsody in Blue. This 13 minute long song was written in just 2 days as George was under pressure from a producer to get it done asap. He was inspired by the every day sounds of the big city, New York, where he lived.

We had so much fun at the Pajama Recital! The students performed so well for each other and learned some fun rhythm cups. THERE ARE NO LESSONS THIS WEEK. Next week will be regular private lessons and NOT group lessons as the pj recital replaced group lessons for this month. Enjoy your week off!

PAJAMA RECITAL! March 15th at my house🙌🏻
This will take place of lessons for that coming week. You should have been texted your child’s recital time for that day. This is a student only recital and prepares my students for performing in front of people. We have so much fun as well! Pajamas are optional but strongly encouraged😁

Group lessons are this week. We will be having our own MUSIC OLYMPICS. Students will be challenged in all sorts if musical skills and knowledge. Who will medal?
