Meals during archery season are something special.

It is just warm enough to enjoy a meal or two outside and the mornings are cool but pleasant. A clean cook tent, meals prepped and ready, and a quiet camp with a table set for hunters coming back after a long day in the mountains. This is the part of camp life that does not always make it into the highlight reel but it is every bit as much a part of the Black Otter Guide Service experience as the ride in and the country itself. We are enjoying every one of these perfect fall days before the cold sets in.

Nika rode Sassy out from camp this year and we have a feeling Sassy was pretty happy about her job for the day!

She is just as charming with a rider on her back and a full pack string behind her as she is in the pack string.

Turn your sound on!

The bells coming through the timber. Hooves on the ground. Gary working the herd to get them moving back into camp for the night. After all these years this is still one of our favorite sounds in the world. It is the kind of thing that makes you stop what you are doing and just listen.
