Postcards from Camp.

The best dishwashing station in Montana happens to be outdoors. A frog that wandered into camp and made himself at home. Mountain goats spotted from the top of Wallace Pass. The pack string winding its way into Grizzly Creek. And a log so full of saddles, pack saddles, and saddle pads it could tell the whole story of a week's work on its own.

Camp is set for summer 2026. We rode in and up Wallace Pass mid-July with no snow slowing us down, wildflowers thick the whole way, and over a dozen mountain goats waiting on the ride out.

Tents are up. Cook tent is stocked. Grizzly Creek Camp has already had its first guests of the season and is waiting on the rest!

Meet Jocko!

Jocko was actually born on Gary's parents' place and officially joined the Black Otter Guide Service herd when he was four years old. He has been part of the family ever since.

Jocko has a hard time keeping his feet out of the fence, which means he ends up on sick leave a time or two throughout the year. We love him anyway!

We're glad to have you as part of the string, Jocko. Just watch where you're stepping.
