🔨 Building skills one project at a time! 🐦

Mr. Buchner’s Construction students are getting started with their first hands-on build — birdhouses! 🏠

This project gives students a chance to put the basics into practice as they measure, cut, assemble, and build their birdhouses from start to finish.

It’s a simple first project, but a great way to begin building confidence with the tools and skills they’ll use on much bigger projects throughout the year. 🪚📐

We can’t wait to see what they build next!

⚡ CAREER EXPLORATION IN ACTION! ⚡
A HUGE thank you to Central Alabama Electric Cooperative (CAEC) for taking the time to visit ACTC and give our students an up-close look at careers in the electric utility industry! 👷‍♂️⚡
CAEC employees brought the bucket truck, tools, equipment, and—most importantly—their real-world experience to share with our students. Students learned about the work utility professionals do, got a hands-on look at the equipment they use every day, asked questions, and even had the chance to step inside the bucket!
These are the experiences that make career exploration meaningful. Instead of just hearing about a career, our students get to see it, touch it, ask about it, and imagine themselves doing it.
💛 Thank you, CAEC, for investing your time in our students and helping them discover where a career in the trades can take them!

ACTC is partnering with MECO, Inc. to connect interested students with career options in the energy and fueling industry.

MECO is a family-owned company based in Montgomery that has been providing fueling solutions since 1979. MECO installs, services, and maintains the equipment and infrastructure that keep gas stations, convenience stores, commercial fueling sites, and other facilities operating. Their work includes fuel systems, petroleum storage tanks, commercial air compressors, generator tanks, electrical work, equipment installation, maintenance, repairs, and construction.
🔧 MECO is interested in hiring high school graduates!

Careers such as Energy Technician and Energy Construction Technician offer hands-on work involving mechanical and electrical systems, construction, equipment installation, troubleshooting, and repair.

🌟 ACTC EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT | SEPTEMBER 🌟

✂️💇‍♀️ Meet Mrs. Misty Burnett, our first-year Cosmetology teacher at ACTC!

Mrs. Burnett may be new to the classroom, but she is certainly not new to the cosmetology industry! With 15 years of experience as a cosmetologist, she brings real-world knowledge and experience directly to her students. She has hit the ground running this year, creating hands-on learning experiences and new opportunities for our Cosmetology students—many of which you may have already seen highlighted on our social media! 💇‍♀️💅✨

For Mrs. Burnett, one of the best parts of teaching is watching her students grow in confidence, skills, and independence. She loves seeing their creativity develop while they learn skills that can lead directly to a future career.

“Believe in yourself, work hard, and treat others with respect and kindness.” ❤️

Today, CACC FAME visited with Prattville High School seniors to share an exciting option for students ready to start building their careers immediately after graduation! 👏 They will be visiting Billingsley (9/30) and Marbury High (11/12).
What is CACC F.A.M.E?
The Central Alabama Community College F.A.M.E. (Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education) Industrial Automation Technician Program (IAT) is a two-year technical associate degree designed to prepare students for the rapidly evolving manufacturing industry. This innovative program combines academic instruction with hands-on experience to ensure graduates are both technically skilled and workplace-ready.
What Makes the CACC IAT Program Different?
