Meet the New Faces at the ACTC!
Today we are excited to intrduce Mr. Robert Buchner as one of the newest members of the ACTC family. Please join us in giving him a warm welcome as we prepare for the amazing 26-27 school year!
Here are a few words from Mr. Buchner:
My name is Robert Buchner. My career has primarily been in the home building industry as a residential builder. I have a family history in cattle, dairy, growing crops, and tree farming in both Alabama and Michigan. I enjoy running heavy construction equipment and driving farm tractors. I also like fishing and improving wildlife habitats, like in pond building and timber management.
I attended Prattville High School and graduated from Auburn University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Building Science from the School of Architecture.
I am married to Kristen Buchner, who works as a physical therapist for the Autauga County School System. We have two sons, Jonathan and Garrett, who graduated from PHS, took classes at the Autauga County Technology Center (ACTC), and are both currently enrolled in college.
Agriscience Construction may sound like a confusing title for a class, but it combines agricultural concepts with a strong emphasis on construction. It covers topics ranging from basic workshop safety to construction math, hand and power tool operation, plan reading, soil testing, communication skills, and contract writing, all of which are transferable skills applicable to almost any industry. My goal is to help students discover a career path they want to pursue and provide them with the tools they need to achieve it.
I look forward to instructing this three-year program, which requires active student involvement, discipline, and responsibility to get the most out of the progressive coursework.
