I want to give a big shout out to some volunteers who helped run and judge some contests last minute for the State Skillsusa Kansas competitions

Brandon Wade and Jason Beisner ran and judged the Video Game and Interactive application contest hosted at Pratt (since we had the only entry).

Those travelling to Hutchinson to help were…
Meagan Householter and Socorro Ibarra Acosta helped judge the T-shirt design and pin design competitions.

And Sterling Tyler ran and judged the nail care competition.

Thanks to all of you for stepping up to allow ours and other kids around the state to be able to compete this year!

Pratt High Greenbacks SkillsUSA students are already hard at it this morning. We have 17 students competing in the State contest in Hutchinson over the next two days!

Great day for the Greenbacks in Geometry in Construction! We poured and finished a concrete pad for our shed project. Lots of hands-on experience today.
Special thanks to Younie Lawnscapes Inc for the use of the concrete tools.

Our Geometry in Construction class has been busy while we have had the nice weather! We learned how to layout batter-boards to mark out the concrete pad we are pouring for our shed. We then used a laser level to find the height of the proposed concrete. Lots of shoveling and leveling gravel and sand along with cutting and tying rebar have us ready to pour the concrete pad next Tuesday. Thanks to Younie Lawnscapes Inc for letting us borrow the concrete tools we will be using.

Geometry in Construction students starting to work on the concrete pad we are pouring for the shed that we are building. They are learning how to use the laser level to find grade, tamping the dirt, and building and squaring the forms.
Contextual Learning Concepts

Some of our Pratt Skillsusa Kansas club got together this morning to build toy Greenbacks to donate to the Bixler Art Barn Christmas celebration. Lots of sanding and applying finish today!

Pratt High Greenbacks hosted a District Skillsusa Kansas leadership contest Tuesday. Karsyn Bailey earned 2nd place in T-shirt design and will participate in the state contest held in Hutchinson on March 3rd. Congrats!!
