🚙 IMPORTANT CARPOOL SAFETY REMINDER 🚙
Our duty staff work tirelessly each day to safely welcome and dismiss hundreds of students. During carpool, our staff members are working in and around moving vehicles, and it is imperative that everyone follows our established safety protocols.
We continue to observe drivers using cell phones while actively moving through the carpool line. Please understand that cell phone use while driving through carpool is not permitted. Even a moment of distraction can create a dangerous situation for a child or staff member. We have a had a few close calls that have prompted the sending of these reminders.
As you travel through our carpool area, please remember:
PUT YOUR CELL PHONE AWAY. Your full attention should be on the roadway, students, staff, and vehicles around you.
Follow the directions of duty staff at all times. Staff members are positioned throughout carpool to safely control the movement of both vehicles and students.
Drive slowly and remain alert. Children and staff are moving between and alongside vehicles throughout the process.
Students must remain seated while your vehicle is moving and should not begin exiting until your vehicle has stopped in the designated unloading area.
Remain in your vehicle. Our staff will assist students as needed.
Once your child has unloaded in the morning, turn on your LEFT blinker or hazard lights to indicate that your vehicle is ready to depart.
During afternoon dismissal, use the same signal once your child is safely inside your vehicle and you are ready to exit.
Keep your car tag visible throughout afternoon carpool until you are exiting campus.
Please do not pull around other vehicles or move forward until directed to do so by duty staff.
Our procedures are not simply designed to make carpool more efficient—they are in place to protect our students, our families, and the staff members who are outside serving our children each day.
We understand that mornings and afternoons are busy, but no phone call, text message, or notification is worth compromising someone's safety. We need every driver's full attention and cooperation from the moment you enter the carpool line until you have safely exited campus.
Thank you for helping us protect our Blue Jays and the staff members who care for them each day. Please put the phone down, stay alert, and follow the directions of our duty staff.
