We provide education and inspiration to encourage application of management techniques for land and livestock in northwest Arkansas and northeast Oklahoma that reflect good stewardship. We believe that horses obtain physical and mental balance while in natural social and environmental settings. Our facilities and resources atop Tyree Mountain reflect the philosophies of Jaime Jackson, Pat Coleby,
Pat Parelli and Gary Young. Many of our horses come to us for turn out type healing by concerned owners and some have been rescued from neglect. Horses that require daily care or training reside at the 80 acre facility which is staffed full time. Horses here are housed in a safe pasture until they understand electric fence, then are moved to the track of our paddock paradise. Horses are expected to adapt to native/orchardgrass pasture and have access to woods and ponds with natural herd dynamics of 4 to 12 horses or mules. Coleby mineral mix is available at feeding stations around the property. Paddocks are rotated every 3 to 7 days to break the parasite cycle and allow regrowth of vegetation. Hay is fed only in extreme winter weather or drought. The herd social dynamics and the configuration of the track and paddocks keep the herd moving much like a wild horse herd. There are no loafing stalled horses here. The equines cover one to two miles a day looking for water, shade, pasture and mineral. All horses are handled and checked twice a day and expected to display level one natural horse skills. With these skills they can relate to herd dynamics that may not have been obtainable in classic boarding situations. Our 160 acre facility 1 mile up Tyree Mountain has larger pastures and herds of up to 15 to 20 equines. It is more suited to retired equines living out their days in peace. Cedar windbreaks and up and down terrain with Bermuda pasture keep them fit and sound for years beyond typical horse care. Donkeys and miniature horses are boarded here on turnout during the day and stabled at night in order to protect them from the elements and prevent overeating. Evening checks are provided by a live in part time caregiver. Coleby mineral mix is in covered feeders in each of 6 large pastures subdivided with electric as needed seasonally to prevent overeating, and shared with cattle to break the parasite cycle. Veterinary care is provided by Dr. Paul Turchie as needed at owners expense. We use Young Living essential oils to treat emotional problems, founder and colic. We resort to pharmaceutical use only in extreme circumstances.Owners are responsible for yearly teeth float. Monthly natural hoof trims, weekly bot egg removal and fall de-worming are provided by CHR. A young horse handler provides colt starting basics. Pricing for turnout board or health recovery is separate. Board with owner access to riding facilities is possible. Horse camping facilities also available.
