💜⭐ Every Dance Has a Story. Every Tradition Has a History.

In honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day, we're sharing a little dance history with a special connection to Powhatan.

🌟 Did you know? More than 400 years ago, dance was part of everyday life for the Powhatan people. Historical accounts describe communities gathering in the evenings to enjoy music and dance around a fire after a day's work.

Our very own Powhatan County was named in honor of Chief Powhatan, who led an alliance of more than 30 Native American tribes in Virginia.

Then and now, dance has been a way to celebrate, connect, and enjoy time together. 💜⭐

💬What's your favorite reason to dance? Is it the music, the friendships, the chance to express yourself, or just because it's FUN? Tell us in the comments! 👇

💚🧠 WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY! 💜⭐

At Stars in Motion, we know dance is about SO much more than learning steps and performing on stage!

It’s about building confidence, making friendships, expressing yourself, and finding JOY in movement! 💃🕺

Did you know that dance can help:

✨ Boost your mood and reduce stress

✨ Ease symptoms of anxiety and depression

✨ Build self-confidence and friendships

✨ Improve focus, memory, and sleep

✨ Encourage creativity and emotional expression

Sometimes, the most important thing a dancer takes home from class isn’t a new skill or a perfect turn. It’s a smile after a tough day, a new friendship, or a little more confidence than they walked in with. 💜

We’re not just teaching dance. We’re helping our STARS grow — inside and out! ⭐
