🎉 Congratulations to Cadet Emma Aeschlimann! 🎉

Please join us in congratulating Cadet Emma Aeschlimann on another outstanding achievement—winning yet another Cadet of the Month Board!

Emma has been competing in Cadet of the Month, Quarter, and Year Boards since her freshman year. Now a senior, she has maintained an unbeaten record throughout her entire high school JROTC career, demonstrating an exceptional level of preparation, knowledge, confidence, discipline, and leadership.

Her consistency and dedication are truly remarkable. Year after year, Emma continues to set the standard for what it means to be a Powhatan High School JROTC cadet and leader.

Congratulations, Emma! Your hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed. Keep setting the standard and leading from the front!

Raider Competition Preparation 💪🏽

Our cadets are putting in the work as they prepare for the upcoming Raider Competition! Today’s training focused on teamwork, communication, and problem-solving as cadets practiced the Rope Bridge and tackled a mini obstacle course.

Hard work, discipline, and teamwork are the foundation of a successful Raider team. Proud of the effort these cadets are putting in—Indian Battalion is getting ready

What an incredible weekend of service, leadership, and community pride for our Powhatan High School JROTC Color Guard!

Our cadets proudly represented Powhatan High School at three events throughout the weekend:

🏈 Event 1 — Home Football Game
Our cadets presented the colors and proudly represented our school on the home field.

⚽ Event 2 — Fighting Creek Park Soccer Game
The Color Guard presented the colors and supported the soccer community at Fighting Creek Park.

🎗️ Event 3 — River City Sports Complex | Relay for Life
Our cadets continued their weekend of service by representing JROTC at the Relay for Life event.

Each event gave our cadets an opportunity to put leadership, discipline, teamwork, and service into action. More importantly, they demonstrated that being a JROTC cadet is about more than marching and wearing a uniform—it is about serving others and making a positive impact in our community.

A special THANK YOU to our cadet families, friends, and community members for continuing to support our young men and women. Your encouragement makes opportunities like these possible.

We are extremely proud of our cadets and the way they represented Powhatan High School JROTC throughout the weekend

I am incredibly proud of our JROTC Powhatan cadets for heading out after the 4th of July festivities to assist with the cleanup efforts.

Whether it’s in the classroom, or out in the community, these cadets consistently step up to serve and represent our program with excellence.

Watching them dedicate their time to ensure our community stays clean and cared for reminds me exactly why I do what I do. Mrs. Blakely in the background joined in to assist us. Thank you!

Keep leading by example!

Dear JROTC Cadets and Families (Current and Incoming),

My Name is Sergeant Major Blakely. I am the Army Instructor @ Powhatan High School and will be teaching the incoming Freshmen.

I hope you are all having a wonderful and safe summer.

We have an excellent opportunity to give back to our local community and support our law enforcement partners. The Powhatan Sheriff's Department has requested our assistance with a clean-up detail following the 4th of July festivities.

We are looking for volunteers from both our returning cadets and our incoming cadets and their families to help with this effort. Below are the specific details for the event:

Date: Sunday, July 5, 2026

Time: 9:00 AM (Arrival)

Location: Army National Guard Recruitment Center, 276 Essayons Dr, Powhatan, VA 23139

On-Site Contact: Sergeant Major (Ret.) Don Blakely

I will be on-site to supervise the details. This is a great way for new cadets to get involved early, meet the team, and earn community service hours right from the start.

How to RSVP: If your cadet (or family members) would like to assist, please reply directly to me via messenger or email me with the names of those attending so we can provide an accurate headcount to the Sheriff's department.

Message me for my email please.

Thank you for your continued support of our program and our community.
