I offer sessions, with a focus on phonics, decoding skills (reading), encoding skills (spelling) and writing skills. y teaching approaches consider "the whole child.” We will not only focus on academic success; we will focus on the theory that hard work and the development of an inner initiative equates to all types of success! My philosophy is simple: “Success comes from within!”
Most important is the ability to read. To that end, I offer phonics/decoding/reading and writing/encoding/spelling lessons. I encourage my students to find a comfortable reading pace, so that their comprehension improves. For those with dysgraphia, I teach my students how to use technology, speech to text (Word Dictation) and how to edit their work in order to produce a wonderful final copy. I teach proper penmanship, spelling and writing skills. I offer writing lessons, which focus on grammar and sentence structure. In order to succeed, a student must be organized! I also offer time management, organizational skills and study skills. Homework is the student's responsibility! All students need to learn how to handle their workloads. My tutoring sessions are 50 minutes long. This summer’s tutoring schedule is being developed (June, July, and August.) Morning sessions begin at 10:00am and the last session of the day is from 4:00-4:50pm, Monday ~ Thursday. Please call and inquire about dates and times for your child. Drop-off and pick-up must be punctual.
