We use critical thinking to assist with overall comprehension, grade improvement, and preparation for SOL and AP exams. My name is Stephen Roszel and I am a licensed teacher in Virginia, currently endorsed in Secondary Social Studies. I am available for tutoring and test prep in the subjects of Geography, Human Geography, American History, World History, Civics, Economics, Government, and Politics
. In addition, I am College Board certified in AP Government & Politics. My educational philosophy focuses on using critical thinking skills while reading and analyzing primary source documents. Along with secondary source material and instructional guidance, students will learn to hone their writing skills while defending their own historical positions. I like to use discussion and debate to encourage students into researching all evidence and checking all premises. I want my students to constructively look at the past, present, and future through an objective lens that leads to healthy skepticism and further exploration. Finally, I would like to instill a passionate sense of civic duty, responsibility, and service in my students. Residing in Powhatan, VA, I'm happy to accommodate in-person learning for areas across the Central Virginia area, but also am flexible to virtual instruction as well.
