Since we heard about the passing of Dolly Parton yesterday we have struggled to come up with the words to say about how much she meant to us and the world. Dolly was an inspiration to all. Always sharing kind words, love and generosity to all. We knew that she loved the songs of Albert E. Brumley and I’m sure he loved her songs as well. Dolly we are honored that you chose one of our songs as the only song you wanted sung at your funeral. This means the world to us. Your passing leaves a void on earth that’s impossible to replace. Thank you for the memories, the love, your spirit and your songs. And since we’ll never meet again this side of heaven. We’ll look for you on that beautiful shore.

The country music icon died Tuesday at the age of 80.

We were invited to visit Hilltop Recording Studio in Nashville, TN. Such amazing history. Dolly Parton, Porter Wagoner, Johnny Cash and more have recorded here.

We were invited to the home of the late Guy Logsdon in Tulsa. Some of the audio clips we have shared of Albert E. Brumley were from one of Guy’s interviews. His daughter Tamara shared photos, videos and papers her Dad had from his time with Grandpa. What neat treasures to see.

We’re in Hartford, AR where I’ll Fly Away was first published. It’s the original home to the Hartford Music Company and Hartford Music Institute. This is where Albert E. Brumley came to learn how to write songs.

We’ve printed about 50 Million songbooks on the old printing press. Albert E. Brumley bought them used when he started his own publishing company back in 1944. We didn’t have room to store all the old plates so he sold them for scrap.

While going through the attic we came across our great-grandma Brumley’s bible. The date said 1922 so she would have used this bible at Liberty Hill Church that we visited recently and shared video from there.
